In the biggest upset so far of the postseason, the Buckeyes used an absolute dominant defensive performance to go on the road and pound Alabama 27-0. They limited Mark Ingram to 11 yards on the day, and outgained the Tide on the ground 237 yards to 65. Terrell Pryor was efficient in leading the Buckeyes to 4 short TD passes out of his 170 yards passing. Brandon Saine rushed for 160 yards, and the Buckeye defense held Alabama to five first downs for the entire game. Ohio State advances to the Orange Bowl to play Florida on January 1.
The Gators used an explosive first half to rebound after LSU scored on an 85 yard TD pass on the second play from scrimmage. The Gators came right back down the field to score and ended the first half with a 21-17 lead. The defenses from both teams arrived in the second half, as only a Florida field goal was put on the board and the Gators held off a 4th and 2 from their 10 yard line in the final minute to end the Tigers season, setting up a rematch with the Buckeyes from a recent Gator National Championship.
Thanks for writing, Evan. I’m not sure what I would be upset about. I’m not a Buckeye fan, so no, didn’t bother me one bit. Just to clarify, I didn’t just make up scores for this playoff system. The games were simulated on NCAA College Football 10 on a Playstation 3. My point in all these years of doing this isn’t to show that a certain team is better than another. It’s to show that we need a better system in place. I think these results do show that anything can happen on any given day, so while you or I may think someone is better, this system would allow the results to be determined on the field, the way it should be.

April 19, 2010 @ 8:10 pmAre you still upset about the 41-14 romp that made Ohio State an absolute joke? Alabama and Florida losing to Ohio State? Someone is out of touch with reality.. If you are going to make this proposal, which I do agree with, make it realistic. I bleed orange and blue and I can tell you Alabama would have won no matter their opponent. I guess it inaccuratley illustrates how a team from a trash conference could rise to the top. We already have a playoff system in college football, the SEC championship game!!!!
